Choose a NatWest Excel export or statement PDF
- In NatWest Online Banking, open Statements & transactions and choose View transactions. Select the account and narrow the search to the period you need.
- Export the search results using the Excel option, or download the transaction list as PDF. Use the Excel file directly if it covers your work.
- For an issued account statement, use the statement documents under Statements & transactions. This is separate from exporting a transaction search.
These instructions cover NatWest Online Banking. They do not describe NatWest International, Bankline or every card product. A transaction-search PDF and an issued monthly statement may serve different purposes; choose the document you need.
Check the period, columns and balances
- Confirm the account and full date range. Avoid counting a transaction twice if you combine overlapping downloads.
- Compare payment and receipt directions with the PDF. Keep dates unambiguous and verify the opening and closing balances where provided.
- Review the converted rows before importing. Match the columns and decimal settings to your spreadsheet or accounting software.
Fictional NatWest PDF review example
An invented £1,100.00 opening balance, a £45.20 payment and a £200.00 receipt produce £1,254.80. This is a synthetic example, not a NatWest document or evidence that every statement layout converts correctly. Possible ExtractoCSV CSV columns, with comma delimiters, decimal points and ISO dates. Check your own PDF preview or use XLSX. The rows below are fictional and are not the bank's native export format.
Date,Description,Reference,Debit,Credit,Balance

Frequently asked questions
Can NatWest export transactions to Excel?
Yes. NatWest's Online Banking help documents an Excel export from transaction search. Use it directly when it contains the data you need.
Where can I download a NatWest statement PDF?
The bank's help points to Statements & transactions in Online Banking for issued statement PDFs. Exporting a transaction-search result as PDF is a separate option.
Does this guide cover Bankline or NatWest International?
No. The cited instructions are for NatWest Online Banking. Check the help for your banking service if its menus differ.
Can I import the converted file directly into accounting software?
First review the rows against the PDF, then map dates, amounts and columns to your software's import template. A spreadsheet download is not automatic reconciliation.
